Things Mark Saw

Scenes of Far Away

Looking into the distance, I think travelling gives the same wisdom as ageing - movements through space the same as those through time.

Glyptoteket - Sculptures in Copenhagen

Some pictures of my favourite sculptures and surroundings at Glyptoteket

They have quite an active YouTube channel which shows off the building itself, which is as beautiful as the exhibits.

As I was wandering around today a choir was in the main hall, which provided an eerie backdrop to the disembodied faces and torsos around me.  I had no idea in particular how skilled the Roman sculpture artists became, with some works being so human like I had to touch them to verify they were made of stone.

Football Fans march on Copenhagen City Centre [pics and video]

I was out for a pleasent Sunday ride when I heard chanting and loud bangs in the distance - looking up a long snaking, yellow and blue leviathan was seen approaching from across the lakes - a protest, a cry of expression, the power of the many (I imagine the Danish they were all chanting was "We are individuals").  It was with sadness I learnt they were marching for no particular reason but that their local football team had been playing - they were "not from Copenhagen" I was advised with a small shake of the head and a frown.  They seemed to only be celebrating drinking beer and smoking fags.

But it was still nice to feel the power of lawlessness - noone could take them down.
